(VOVworld) – A review conference of the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and the National Committee for Search Rescue opened on Friday in Da Nang city.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired the event. According to the conference, in 2013 localities were prepared and ready to deal with any natural disasters. This year, it is forecast that 9 to 10 storms and tropical low pressure systems will appear in the East Sea, and that Vietnam was likely to be affected by their appearance. Deputy Prime Minister Hai asked the Committees, sectors and localities to stay alert and be ready to deal with natural disasters. It was essential to renovate the dyke systems, transportation, electrical and communication systems in order to minimize the risks.
