(VOVworld) - North Korea has long been developing a comprehensive nuclear deterrent and it's making progress, according to Stratfor, a US geopolitical intelligence and advisory firm.

The recent test-launch of a medium-range ballistic missile, which North Korea claimed successful, proved that what was once a distant goal is now a reality. Stratfor predicted that it’s impossible for North Korea to soon give up its nuclear program in any potential negotiations but will cultivate its nuclear capabilities to threaten others.

The firm suggested the US and its allies should revise their military strategy in response. Seoul, which is just 200 kilometers from Pyongyang, is in the range of North Korea's strike, which requires South Korea to fortify its missile defense system.
