(VOVWORLD) - Sweden on Monday introduced its toughest coronavirus restrictions yet as COVID-19 cases in the country surge - reducing the number of people allowed to gather in one place from 300 to just 8.

The restriction will take effect next Tuesday and will initially apply for four weeks.
The restriction applies to public events such as concerts, art performances, and sports matches, but not to schools, workplaces, or private gatherings.
