Syrian army, allies now control 75% of Deir al-Zor
(VOVWORLD) - The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Tuesday that the Syrian army and its allies have seized control of over 75 percent of the capital of Deir al-Zor province in eastern Syria, following battles with the Islamic State.

Syrian forces stripped ISIS of key areas over the past 24 hours, enabling the army to tighten the noose on ISIS militants. The Syrian army retook the Deir al-Zor military airport, resuming flights from and to the airfield on Monday.
