It said the cessation began at 12:00 noon (0900 GMT) and warned that any violation will receive an "appropriate response". The army didn’t detail on how long the deal will be enforced.
The move came after Russia said it had reached an agreement with Syrian’s moderate rebels to de-escalate conflict in Eastern Ghouta. The agreement defined the boundaries of the de-escalation zone, areas of ceasefire, deployment of forces to monitor the reduction in fighting, and routes for humanitarian aid and travel of civilians.
