The title was previously announced at the 29th World Travel Awards held in Oman last month.

Vu Viet Van, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said at the ceremony that the award, a recognition of the initial success of the district’s tourism sector,  will help Tam Dao be widely known and likely see a boom in the number of tourists soon.

Van underscored the need for agencies at all levels to disseminate and encourage organizations and individuals to continue to preserve and protect the environment and develop tourism so that after receiving the title, Tam Dao town will always lead the service quality, ensure a safe and civilized tourism environment, increase investment attraction to turn out attractive service products.

“Greater attention should be made to promoting Tam Dao National Tourist Area as a global tourist destination,” said Van.

Tam Dao town was discovered and built by the French in the 19th century. With a fresh and cool climate all year round, Tam Dao has enough conditions to develop various forms of tourism ranging from historical, cultural and spiritual tourism, adventure tourism, ecology, and resort.
