Tet celebrations held in Australia, the US, Panama
(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Australia held on Sunday a get-together to celebrate the traditional lunar New Year or Tet. In his address, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi said Vietnam’s achievements in 2015 are attributed to the concerted efforts of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people, including overseas Vietnamese, plus the international support. Ambassador Nghi presented the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s Certificate of Merit to the Overseas Vietnamese Business Association in Australia and to individual overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs with contributions to their homeland and to developing the Overseas Vietnamese community in Australia.
Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States held on Saturday a ceremony to mark the occasion. Nearly 300 overseas Vietnamese living and studying in Washington DC and adjacent areas attended the event.
