“Tet for poor people and AO victims” program launched

(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Red Cross Society has started a program to give New Year gifts to 1 million poor families and Agent Orange/ Dioxin victims. In the past 16 years, local Red Cross branches have collected more than 3 trillion VND to help 14 million poor families and AO victims.

The Society has collected about 1.7 million gifts worth 635 billion VND since the beginning of this year. Tran Thi Hong An, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, spoke at a press conference to launch the program in Hanoi on Monday. “The campaign promotes material and social values and enhances links between social groups involved in humanitarian activities. The annual campaign is the Red Cross Society’s practical contribution to poor families and AO victims during the New Year festival.”

The Red Cross Society has launched a photo and writing contest on the topic of “Humanitarian spring” from now until February 15.
