(VOVworld)- The army has raised an alert of more violence at anti-government protests after intelligence indicated weapons and explosives are being moved into Bangkok. According to an army spokesperson, a group is mobilizing weapons and bombs with which to attack rivals.
The Thai government imposed a state of emergency Wednesday in Bangkok and nearby provinces which last for 60 days. Anti-government protestors attacked the national police headquarters after the state of emergency was declared. Earlier in the week, hundreds of protestors besieged the office of the Permanent Secretary of Defense, currently serving as headquarters for the Center for Peacekeeping which is in charged of the state of emergency, and urged soldiers to stop serving what they call “Thaksin’s regime”.
