(VOVworld) - Thailand's Supreme Commander, General Thanasak Patimaprakorn, has dismissed an appeal by the opposition rally leader to intervene in the political crisis and support efforts by protesters to oust the government and replace it with an unelected "people's council".
Responding to calls by protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban to "stand by the people", General Thanasak Patimaprakorn said on Saturday that the best solution is negotiation. He stressed that Thai army needs to abide by the law, especially in the current unstable situation. He said neutral observers have to monitor the election and ensure that it will take place on February 2, 2014 as scheduled.
