Thai National Day celebration in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVworld)-A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday to celebrate the 86th birthday of the Thai King and Thailand’s National Day (December 5).

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City Truong Hoang said that over the years, the two countries have maintained high- level delegation exchanges and bolstered trade ties. Encouraging cooperation was also seen in defense, security, culture, tourism education, and training.  

Panpimon Suwannaponge, Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, said 2013 marks an important milestone in their bilateral ties because Vietnam and Thailand have officially promoted the relationship to a strategic partnership.

On the occasion, the Thai business association in the city granted 20 scholarships to underprivileged students in the southern region. The Thai Consulate General also donated 100 million VND and 800 THB to the Vietnam-Thailand charity fund.
