Thai protest leader set May 27 as deadline

(VOVworld) – Leader of the anti-government protesters Suthep Thaugsuban said he will stop campaigns and give himself up on May 27 if he can not rally enough people to stage a demonstration to ask for the government's resignation one day before the deadline

He has called on 1 million Thai people to take to the street before May 26. The protesters plan to follow 24 incumbent ministers to ask them to resign and lobby government officials to not follow orders from the ministers.

The interim government said a general election will be the best way to resolve crisis, which will lead the country to recession and a civil war. After the Thai Election Council’s call to postpone the election scheduled on July 20, anti-government protesters have continued to put pressure on the senate to appoint a non-elected Prime Minister.
