(VOVworld) – On Friday, Thailand’s Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) unveiled the first draft of the Constitution with 15 chapters and 270 sections.

The draft constitution covers general provisions, the monarchy, rights and liberties, duties of the people, duties of the state, state policies, parliament, cabinet, conflicts of interests, courts, constitutional organs or independent organizations, public prosecutor organization, local government, and amendments and provisional clauses. CDC Chairman Meechai Ruchphan said the draft constitution was compiled within the 2014 interim charter’s framework and serves as a reformed Constitution focusing on anti-corruption. He added the draft constitution still keeps controversial article 44 stressing the role of the National Council for Peace and Order as a tool to assure a peaceful transition period until new government is elected.
