(VOVworld) - Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) has endorsed 58 winning candidates with the highest votes and no complaint filed against them in the March 30 Senate election.
The EC is required by law to complete its endorsement for the remaining senators within 30 days of the election.

Nineteen others are still under investigation for alleged violations of the election law, according to EC secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong. The Thai Senate comprises 150 seats, with a senator elected from each of the 77 provinces, and the rest appointed. However, the Senate is unable to convene even with these candidates endorsed, as the constitution stipulates that at least 95 percent of its members, or 142 senators, are needed for the Senate's first sitting.
