Addressing the ceremony on Friday, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, director of the hospital, recalled remarkable progress in organs transplant by the hospital. He said that following its first organ transplant in 2001, the hospital has carried out nearly 800 kidney transplants, four heart transplants and one heart and lung transplant:

“Besides heart transplants, the Hue Central Hospital is the pioneer health clinic nationwide in kidney transplants. We will conduct transplants of hearts and lungs in the near future. The hospital has co-operated with many international hospitals for organ transplants, including Severance and Yosei hospitals in South Korea to promote training cooperation in liver transplants,” Hiep said.
