The US commits to expand campaign against IS outside Iraq and Syria

The president emphasized that the United States will continue to counter IS terrorist plotters in any country where it is necessary. The president said the United States will continue to counter IS, especially in areas such as Libya where IS tries to find safe havens.
On Thursday, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said that the situation in Libya was getting worse as IS militants are taking advantage of the country’s disorder to establish training camps and recruit foreign militants. Carter said Washington was closely watching the situation and considering future plans for Libya.
