(VOVworld) – The US is preparing a new round of economic sanctions against Russia for its incursion into Ukraine, Deputy White House national security adviser Ben Rhodes said on Thursday.

Rhodes said the move had the strong support of U.S. President Barack Obama and other key European leaders from Britain, France, Germany and Italy. Earlier, Washington imposed sanctions on Moscow targeting its economy and close allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin. On the same day, Britain’s Financial Times reported that the EU is planning to impose a ban on Russia’s oil and gas groups from mobilizing capital from the EU financial market. But the sanctions are aimed at state-owned corporations with the total asset value of 27 billion USD.
