(VOVWORLD) - The government has decided to distribute 13.5 thousand tons of rice from the national reserve to help people in nine provinces prepare for Tet and compensate for crop losses due to heavy rains and floods.

6,900 tons of rice will be given to Tay Ninh, Cao Bang, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Nghe An, Gia Lai and Quang Binh province. 3,700 tons of rice will be delivered to flood-affected people in Quang Ngai, Phu Yen and Binh Dinh province. 2,900 tons of rice will help poor people of Cao Bang, Gia Lai and Quang Binh province before the new harvest.
Localities have helped poor people, workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and social beneficiaries have a happy Tet.
Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Nguyen Van Hoi said: “The Ministry has instructed localities to mobilize organizations, businesses, and individuals, together with the state budget, to help disadvantaged people have a happy Tet. Every province has planned to care for the poor during Tet.”
