Three foreign experts honoured for contributions to Vietnam's health sector

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Health on Tuesday presented the “For people’s health” insignia to three foreign experts in recognition of their contributions to Vietnam's health sector and the cause of HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

The honored experts were Marie-Odile Emond, Country Director of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS in Vietnam, and John Michael Blandford and Paula Morgan, Country Director and Deputy Director of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Vietnam.

Addressing a ceremony in Hanoi on Tuesday, Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said Vietnam's health sector hopes for stronger international cooperation and more assistance from international organisations in the field of HIV/AIDS control. He called on international organizations involved in public health to set up representative offices in Vietnam.
