(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday announced the commencement of 3 key transportation projects which are expected to cost a total of 5 billion USD.

The projects include HCM city’s ring road 3, the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway, and the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway.
PM Chinh noted that more than 1,100 km of expressways were built the 2000-2021 period while the 13th National Party Congress targets 5,000 km of expressways by 2030. This means the length of expressways to be built in the 2021-2030 period will be 4 times that of the past 20 years.
The 80km ring road 3 running through HCM city and Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An provinces is scheduled to open to traffic by 2026.
The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway is expected to shorten travel time between HCM city and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province from 150 minutes to 70 minutes.
The 120km Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway will be put into service by 2027.
