Top leader calls for Can Tho’s modernization imbued with Mekong River Delta identity
(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong said on Friday that in the past 15 years, especially since the Politburo issued a Resolution on building and developing Can Tho city during national industrialization and modernization, Can Tho has capitalized on its potential and advantages for development.

Chairing a meeting of the Politburo with Can Tho city on Friday, Mr. Trong praised the city for its rapid economic growth and growth quality improvement with the strongest reduction of poor households in the Mekong Delta.
Party leader and President Trong said that amid the global and regional uncertainties, Can Tho must review and update the situation, raise the city’s status in the Mekong Delta region, and adopt development orientation to fully tap its advantages.
"Can Tho must continue to promote its glorious heroic and revolutionary tradition, patriotism, and the spirit of braving hardships to escape poverty and move forward with new determination. Efforts should be made to launch movements of mobilizing resources elsewhere from the central to local levels, involving scientists, and proposing solutions to further develop the city, " Mr. Trong said.
