The program aims to honor and promote traditional lacquer painting, the work of making it and its current development. It is coorganised by the Hanoi Old Quarter Board of Management, Hanoi Intermediate Vocational School, Phuc Cuong Limited Company, the Vietnamese Son Ta artist group and Tam Son International Limited Company. Items painted by lacquer included a large pot and a boat of lotus flowers, attracting viewers with a beam of light bronze. The program is organised to celebrate Liberation Day on April 30 and International Labour Day on May 1. Lacquer painting is being submitted to UNESCO as a new intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in cooperation with the Republic of Korea’s peers.
The programme will also be held at the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre, 50 Dao Duy Tu Street and the House of Heritage, 87 Ma May Street, till May 2.
