Trang An festival promotes Vietnam’s history, world heritage site
(VOVWORLD) - Trang An festival opened on Sunday in Ninh Binh province to honor Saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong, a general in the reign of the 18th Hung King, who made great contributions to establishing and protecting the country.

The festival also prays for peace, prosperity, and favorable weather and reenacts Vietnam’s history through the Dinh, Le, Ly, and Tran dynasties from the 10th to the 14th century in the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, about 100km south of Hanoi. Visitors can take a boat trip through caves to the Fairytale stream and offer incense to the Saint. The festival includes a dragon procession on the river and music performances by ethnic minority artists.
“The Trang An Festival is a beautiful cultural event preserved by the locals. It is closely associated with the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a world heritage site. The event features the cultures of several regions and ethnic groups and always attracts a large number of visitors. We hope that Trang An’s unique culture and the ancient capital of Hoa Lu will make a deep impression on Vietnamese and foreign visitors,” said Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee.
The annual festival is held on the 18th day of the third lunar month. This year’s event marks 5 years since the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
