Trump told reporters in the White House on Friday South Korean President Moon Jae-in had asked him if he could get involved but did not elaborate on what steps Washington might take. He also emphasized the need for South Korea and Japan to try to work out their differences.
Trump's remarks on the South Korea-Japan confrontation are his first comments on the matter. Experts said the US could be a mediator to prevent trade tensions between South Korea and Japan from escalating into other areas.
