Turkey, UK uncover terror attack plots

(VOVworld) – Turkish Presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin said Turkey has foiled a number of terrorist attack plots in recent weeks. At a press conference in Ankara on Monday, Kalin said there are planned suicide bombings following the attacks by Islamic State (IS) and Kurdish militants. Since January, four bomb attacks occurred in Turkey, killing over eighty people. The most recent attack on March 19 in Istanbul killed three Israelis and one Iranian tourist.

Meanwhile, UK news media said Monday that jihadists have planned to carry out more than twenty deadly attacks in Britain following attacks in Brussels and Paris, which killed and injured hundreds of people. Military Intelligence, Section 5 (MI5) officials suspect that more than fifty jihadists, among 450 extremists throughout the UK, would be involved in the attacks. UK security agencies are tracking twenty-five conspiracies of supporting IS or Al-Qaeda.
