Turkey’s current constitution went into force after a coup in 1980. Constitutional changes have been one of the most controversial political issues in recent months which, the opposition said, will increase President Tayip Erdogan’s power.

At their meeting on Monday, Erdogan and leaders of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and two other opposition parties agreed to some minor changes to the constitution.
