(VOVWORLD) - Turkey’s parliament postponed on Thursday a vote on whether to ratify Sweden’s accession to NATO.

Foreign Committee chair Fuat Oktay, said the committee will discuss the issue some more next week. The committee may invite the Swedish ambassador to brief lawmakers, he said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially submitted Sweden's NATO membership application to the Turkish Parliament on October 23, but no specific time has been set for a vote.
