(VOVworld) – A TV link between Da Nang city and Quang Ngai province was held on Sunday, part of a communication campaign about Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty and the strategic role of Vietnam’s sea and islands.

The program provided viewers an overview of Vietnam’s month-long struggle against China’s illegal placement of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone. Dinh Kim Thao is a fisheries resources surveillance officer: “China’s placement of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone is a violation of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Our struggle is legitimate and I believe our efforts will pay off.”
