20 cars were burnt and 4 people were arrested on Sunday, the second consecutive day of violence in Elancourt, Western suburb of Paris. Some 50 people carrying weapons threw petrol bombs at policemen. Manual Valls, the French Minister of the Interior, said extra police will be stationed there to maintain security. The violence began Friday night when 250 youths clashed with police in nearby Trappers to protest a French prohibition against wearing Muslim headscarves in public areas. French leaders called on French citizens to remain calm.
