Speaking ahead of the event, head of the South Korean delegations Kim Do-gyun said both sides will discuss easing military tensions and arranging a defense ministerial meeting as part of efforts to implement the outcomes of the Panmunjom Declaration. The talk is expected to focus on the restoration of a cross-border military communication line, holding military talks on a regular basis, and establishing a hotline between military leaders.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the US and South Korea will end joint military drills given both sides’ goodwill to hold dialogues. Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia urged the UN Security Council to lift sanctions against North Korea after Pyongyang reaches an agreement with the US on dissolution of its nuclear programs.
