UAE launches its first ever Mars mission
(VOVWORLD) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday launched a historic mission to Mars from an island off the coast of Japan. The UAE is working towards advances in science and technology and less dependence on crude oil.

The Emirates Mars Mission, known as Hope, was launched from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Center and will arrive in Mars orbit in early 2021. Hope, which will analyze the Martian atmosphere, is the Arab world’s first interplanetary mission.
The launch, initially scheduled for Wednesday, had been postponed because of unstable weather.
