(VOVWORLD) - UK Festival 2023, themed “The UK-Vietnam: Building a Better Future”, will take place this weekend in downtown Hanoi, as part of activities to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and promote education, trade, and sustainable development.

Organized by the British Embassy in Hanoi, the 2-day event will have 60 stalls displaying British products related to education, healthcare, finance, retail, tourism, sustainable development, sports, culture, and cuisine.
At a press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday, British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew said that the UK festivals in Vietnam are an opportunity to showcase the best of British.
“So that's the best of British innovation, the best of British culture and creativity. That's why we’ll organize an exciting program which focuses on the music, the food, and the creativity that links our two countries and which showcases the best of the UK. So I think all together this is a really exciting festival of culture and a way that people can really connect, can really connect to each other,” said the Ambassador.

Highlights of the event will be musical performances by British military bands, a scone-making showcase by Ambassador Iain Frew, a symphony performance, a meeting with English former professional footballer Glen Johnson from the Liverpool team, and music nights featuring the renowned British boy band 911 and other artists. It will also include British cultural activities, product promotions, exhibitions, and fashion showcases.
UK Festival 2023 will move to Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 and to Da Nang on October 16. Admission is free of charge for all ages.
