The Islamic extremist received a large amount of money to buy firearms and explosives in order to carry out the terrorist act. According to the intelligence services, if the attack had succeeded, it would have been the worst since the blast on July 7, 2005, when Islamic extremists set off several bombs in the London subway and buses, killing 52 people and injuring hundreds. The police forces have not received the suspect’s identity or the date they arrested him, but the British media are reporting that his controller is in Syria.
