David Lidington, UK’s Deputy Prime Minister, said on Tuesday that there is no chance of a Brexit deal being finalized between Prime Minister Theresa May’s conservatives and the opposition Labour Party before May 23, the date set for the EU parliamentary election.
Lidington said that the government will do its best to reach a Brexit deal as soon as possible after the elections, so that Britain will not need to be represented in the European Parliament. The EP will meet for the new tenure on July 2. The British parliament's summer recess is due to start on July 20.
