(VOVworld) – The security service of Ukraine (SBU) together with the country’s prosecutor and police, eliminated a criminal group that illegally transported fighters for the Islamic State across the border between Ukraine and Russia.

An SBU spokesman in Kharkhiv reported that its organizer was a member of the eastern regional directorate of the border service, who covered up the illegal activities of his co-conspirators using his official position. The group consisted of four citizens of Ukraine and the Caucasus countries. The channel carried people from Russia to Ukraine and vice versa. The intelligence services determined that this route was being used by the IS, an international terrorist organization, as a transit point for fighters going from Russia to Europe.
