(VOVworld) – Ukrainian lawmakers adopted a resolution Tuesday on measures to strengthen defenses along its border with Russia on Tuesday.

261 out of 450 congressmen backed Resolution 4048 which requires Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service to increase its eastern border security.The resolution calls for the Ukrainian government to specify the number of border gates within 1 month and immediately begin to document Ukraine’s border with Russia. It also calls for increased security at the border with Pridnestrovie, which belongs to Moldova. This is home to a number of people of Russian origin who are demanding to merge the region into the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian lawmakers also discussed budget allocations for border demarcation and beefed-up security forces along the eastern border.
