UN chief calls for diplomatic solution to North Korea
(VOVWORLD) -United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on North Korea’s top diplomat to diplomatically resolve tensions on the Korean Peninsula during their meeting in New York.

The North's state-run news agency said Sunday that the UN chief met with Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho following the minister's key-note address at the UN General Assembly on Saturday. Minister Ri repeated North Korea’s vow to Donald Trump’s threat to "totally destroy" North Korea. He stressed that the UN should fulfill its role and mission to guarantee peace and security on the world and uphold well as to achieve international justice. Guterres said Korean Peninsula issues should be resolved politically and diplomatically, not militarily.
