“Our world is in peril and paralyzed,” Guterres told world leaders attending the 77th United Nations General Assembly, adding that “trust is crumbling, inequalities are exploding, our planet is burning, and people are hurting - with the most vulnerable suffering the most”.
The world is addicted to fossil fuels, Guterres said, emphasizing that the world needs to hold fossil fuel companies and their enablers to account.
