UN chief urges Israeli lawmakers to reconsider settlement bill
(VOVworld) - Outgoing United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon on Friday urged Israeli lawmakers to reconsider a bill to legalize Israeli settlement homes on private Palestinian land in the West bank.

He said the bill will have negative legal consequences for Israel and substantially diminish the chances for Arab-Israeli peace. Israeli legislators last week passed the bill to legalize some 4,000 settler units built on private Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank. The bill must pass 2 more voting rounds in the Parliament before being finally approved.
