(VOVworld)- The 60^th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women opened in New York on Monday. High on the agenda of the session will be women’s empowerment and its links to sustainable development.

UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) convenes its 60th session

On behalf of ASEAN delegates, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said ASEAN has achieved various accomplishments in addressing and advancement of gender equality and empowerment of women. These achievements come by way of increasing women’s participation in the labor force, economic, social and political life, improvement in education, balanced population sex-ratio and national machineries for the advancement of women. She reiterated ASEAN’s commitment to implementing the UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and make more efforts for the advancement of women through increasing cooperation with partners, especially the UN.
