Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, permanent representative of Vietnam to the UN, held a working session on Wednesday with Lacroix in a bid to promote the country’s participation in UN peacekeeping activities.

During the meeting, the UN official expressed his willingness to actively consider the nation’s proposals and stated his hope that the country would continue to improve the capacity of peacekeeping forces. This could be done through intensifying training, securing equipment, and applying new technologies in order to be ready to get involved in units that will be deployed by the UN in the near future, especially sapping, helicopter, and information units.

Ambassador Giang expressed his wish that Lacroix and his organization continue to strengthen support for the nation, both for military and police forces, in participating in peacekeeping activities and fulfilling their tasks at the UN missions.

The Ambassador went on to affirm Vietnam's readiness to send additional forces as requested by the UN, including police forces, individual officers, and candidates for relevant positions at the UN Secretariat.

He also suggested the Department of Peace Operations and UN agencies support the country in language training, providing modern equipment, and helping the nation become a training center for UN peacekeepers in the region.
