(VOVWORLD) -A UN peacekeeping staff officer training course opened in Hanoi on Monday by the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations with the support of the US’s Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI).

The training course , which will run until May 29, will provide basic knowledge and professional skills on UN military advisory work at the Mission Command level for officers of the Vietnam People's Army and GPOI’s partner countries who are to be deployed to UN peacekeeping missions.
The activity also contributes to improving the capacity to organize intensive international training courses, develops a contingent of lecturers on UN peacekeeping, and strengthens friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and the US and international partners in peacekeeping.
