UN Security Council meets on North Korea nuclear
(VOVWORLD) - The 15-member Security Council met on Wednesday at the request of the US for concerns that North Korea could resume nuclear or long-range missile testing.

US envoy to the UN Kelly Craft said that the US is ready “to take concrete steps” toward a deal aimed at getting North Korea to give up its nuclear and missile programs, but the Security Council must be prepared to respond to any provocations.
Craft voiced concern that the DPRK could launch space vehicles using long-range ballistic missile technology, or that they could test-launch intercontinental ballistic missiles, designed to attack the continental United States with nuclear weapons.
China’s UN ambassador Zhang Jun said on Wednesday that it is “imperative” that the Security Council ease sanctions on North Korea to support talks between Pyongyang and Washington and prevent the reversal of the process.
Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said that progress in talks cannot be made if Pyongyang is told to unequivocally agree to all conditions that are imposed with only a promise of future benefits.
