UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned that the verdicts that don’t meet basic fair trial standards will impact long-term stability of a nation, according to UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric. The UN stressed that the ruling will negatively affect Egypt’s security and threaten the stability of the entire North Africa and Middle East region.

The same day, White House spokesman Jay Carney said the verdict defies even the most basic standards of international justice. The criticism was made following a court in Minya city had sentenced 683 Muslim Brotherhood’s supporters to death, including its supreme leader Mohamed Badie.
