(VOVworld) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon welcomed the announcement from a Saudi-led coalition of a five-day cease-fire to allow humanitarian activities in Yemen.

The pause began at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. Ban called on Houthi rebels and other parties to respect the truce for the sake of all Yemeni people, and urged all sides to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to all parts of Yemen.
Immediately after the truce began, Houthi gunmen attacked several places, including Sanaa and Taiz.
