UNESCO condemns ISIS destruction in Syria's Palmyra
(VOVworld) - Syrian state television reported Friday that militants of the Islamic State terrorist group destroyed the facade of the Roman Theater, and the Tetrapylon architecture complex in Palmyra, which is considered a “new war crime” by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova said this destruction is an immense loss for the Syrian people and for humanity.
ISIS recaptured Palmyra back in December. During it first occupation in 2015, the terrorist group destroyed around 2,000 ancient relics in the city.
