(VOVworld) – US President Donald Trump reiterated commitments to ensuring Japan’s security in a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Saturday. The two leaders also discussed Secretary of Defence James Mattis’s upcoming visit to Japan and North Korea’s nuclear threat.

Kyodo news reported that President Trump and Prime Minister Abe agreed to meet in Washington on February 10 to deepen the relationship between their countries. They are expected to talk about bilateral trade following the US’s withdrawal from the Tran-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement and about the US-Japan alliance.
