(VOVWORLD) - The US on Friday held ceremonies in New York, Shanksville, and the Pentagon, to mark to 19th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

This year's memorial service was held both online and in person with limited attendees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Donald Trump and his wife, along with federal and local officials, lawmakers, and families of the victims, attended a ceremony in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The event was livestreamed.
A live ceremony held in New York City’s "Ground Zero", was attended by Vice President Mike Pence, former Vice President Joe Biden, and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. A ceremony held at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York, bypass the traditional ritual of reading the victims’ names, but played a video showing their names.
At the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley chaired a ceremony at the Pentagon's September 11 National Monument. The event was broadcast live.
