US Justice Department and its counterpart in Cuba have exchanged information directly in several cases
(VOVworld) – US and Cuban law enforcement are now exchanging data through the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
US Deputy Assistant Secretary for South America and Cuba Alex Lee said the US Justice Department and its counterpart in Cuba have exchanged information directly in several cases. Officials of both sides held talks in November on cooperation in strengthening cyber security and anti-terrorism, and preventing human and drug trafficking, money laundering, and other trans-national crimes.The talks are as part of the process of normalizing relations between the US and Cuba.
The Obama administration has lifted several trade and tourism restrictions on Cuba but not its 54-year-old embargo.
