(VOVWORLD) - US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said Wednesday that he and US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer had had “productive meetings” with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He in Beijing.

Neither US nor Chinese officials provided details about the latest round of talks aimed at ending a trade war between the two world powers. Vice Premier Liu will lead a Chinese delegation to Washington next Wednesday for another round of talks.
China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang told a press conference earlier this week that substantive progress has been achieved. He said he hopes the two teams, guided by the two presidents' consensus, will work together for a mutually-beneficial and win-win agreement on the basis of mutual respect.
